Cannabis has medicinal values regardless if cannabis is used recreationally or medicinally; cannabis is medicine. There is medicine in many forms of nature. People’s first medicines came from nature and the use of cannabis as medicine dates back to ancient times. There are also many other uses for the cannabis plant other than medicine. There can also be a spiritual aspect of medicating with plants from the mother earth. Bringing one back into their more natural state to achieve homeostasis within the body.
Cannabis has been know by several other names due to a deliberate campaigning and has gone by names such as weed, marijauna, reefer and many others. The deliberate intention on governmental and private sectors that caused this plant to be vilified and made illegal is rooted in greed, discrimination and fear dating back to the 1930's. Cannabis includes the genetic variants known as industrial hemp with a content of less the 0.3%THC to CBD; also sold as hemp CBD. Content above 0.4% THC with varying amounts of other phytocannabinoids including CBD is considered Cannabis.
Cannabidiol also known as CBD is a non psychoactive cannabinoid with a multitude of medicinal properties and benefits. Tetrahydrocannabinoil also known as THC is known to have psychoactive properties in addition to its various medicinal properties and benefits. There are over 100+ other phytocannabinoids that each have their own individual attributes, benefits, medicinal properties and can work synergistically with one another. As the ability to research this valuable plant advances the vast variety of properties and affects will be scientifically researched and published.
Cannabis is not a panacea but it greatly contributes to ones overall health and wellness. Some of the components that contribute to the medicinal properties of cannabis include; cannabinoids, terpenes and flavonoids. For each strain will have its own unique components that have varying affects and attributes dependent on the individual strain genetics, plant growth environment, flowering time, cure process and the processing of the plant matter for end use.
The cannabinoids, terpenes and flavonoids will affect each individual differently . For everyone’s endocannabinoid system (ECS) and the ECS's deficiency will vary for person to person. Tolerance varies from individual to individual. The receptors within the human body react to the cannabinoids within the plant. When used in conjunction with a variety of healthy lifestyle factors, cannabis is a game changer. The spectrum of wellness is relative to a multitude of factors and can be thought of as a pie with many pieces. Cannabis is just a piece of the pie of wellness.
Niki has been a cannabis patient in the Illinois Medical Cannabis program since 2016. Niki has worked as a cannabis advocate and educator within the Illinois medical cannabis program as well. Cannabis self study, exploration and experimentation has been apart of her wellness journey. This journey has taken Niki to hear and meet several cannabis experts speaking on their quantitive knowledge about the cannabis plant and various benefits for a variety of conditions.
Niki has used her knowledge and experience crafting custom cannabis medicine for various individual uses. Cannabis and other herbal plant medicine has been highly effective for Niki’s health and wellness. Sharing this knowledge with others is now a part of her passions and the apart of the mission of Love and Light Everywhere.
